Florida Fish Pepper Co
From backyard to big business. The fish pepper has roots in African American and Haitian foodways. We're reviving it through community-powered farming.
About Us
Florida Fish Pepper Co. is a Florida-based, Jacksonville-rooted growers alliance committed to restoring and elevating the fish pepper as a symbol of cultural memory, agricultural innovation, and collective power. Our movement is not about hot sauce. It is about sovereignty. It is about legacy. It is about the African Diaspora.
Our work centers on the cultivation of the fish pepper—a stunningly variegated heirloom plant with Caribbean and African American origins—as a vehicle for uniting gardeners, homesteaders, and farmers across the South. Through shared resources, local co-ops, and community-first markets, we are transforming this once-obscure ingredient into a catalyst for economic growth, culinary storytelling, and agricultural equity.
From Jacksonville to Haiti and beyond, we are building a regenerative future for our people, rooted in the soil and spiced with purpose.
